YF Bowling at the RA Centre this Friday

(from the Tuesday e-mail)
It was great to continue our study of Nehemiah last week, it was a firm reminder for our need to turn from the sin in our lives and also a reminder that fitting 26 people into the youth room gets kinda warm and feet-smelly. It's definitely cozy y'know? :) Thanks for submitting so many Ouje forms this year, it's definitely a sign that God's been working in your lives and to see such a willingness to serve is awesome! Regardless of whether you are on the team or not, please pray for the team that will be ministering in Ouje this summer!

This Friday (May 1st), we've rented the whole R.A. Center on Friday for our church to bowl. This is a joint family/church event, it's important for families to have events together. AWANA and Pure Energy will be joining us for bowling. Please meet at the RA Center (2451 Riverside Drive - directions) at 7:15pm. If you are not going with your family, please do your best to arrange car pools - Brad and Rae-Anne are available for rides from the church, if you are interested please give them a message asap (their emails are in the address field). As it is meant to be a family event, your parents are strongly encouraged to attend (and your little brothers and sisters). It costs $7 for 3 games and shoe rental is included as well.

YF Coffeehouse (May 22) is ridiculously close! There are only a couple of weekends left to plan/practice for the coffeehouse, keep in mind that may 9th is CCCO's 20th anniversary outdoor bloc party, so the whole church is encouraged to be a part of that. That doesn't leave much time if your teams plan to meet on a non-school night! The groups should know what they are planning for and practicing/working towards that goal at this point. Keep in mind to pray for your friends who you are inviting and to invite them :)

A few of you have already shared that you will be helping with this year's VBS (August 10-14), if you are able please set aside time to help this summer. Also clear your calendar for YF Discipleship Week which is the following week (August 17-21).

Youth Opportunities: Areas of the city are initiating a peer-led youth program that aims to raise awareness of prejudicial and racists thinking amongst high school students. It's a one year project to gather a group of youth ages 14-18 to meet about once a week from May to the end of July to put together a peer-led presentation (be it a dialogue, comedy, skit, etc.) that aims to open dialogue around discrimination and hate crimes. This presentation will then be presented to different community groups and in high school classrooms. If you are interested let me know (the hours can count towards your community service hours)

The National House of Prayer is looking for students to take part in CampFire It is an opportunity to live at the NHOP with 29 other youth who want to make a difference in their high schools and universities. If you are not going to Ouje this summer, consider this opportunity from june 28 - july 4. They will be doing street outreach, outdoor events... more details on the campfire website.

There has been a lot of trust in this group and shared struggles so keep praying for each other!
