We've moved

After six years, we've moved to http://www.cccoyouth.com/

YF 'Preparing for the Harvest' this Friday (7th) at church! (Fall Retreat Forms etc.)

Happy 'back to school' day!   Some of you may have mixed feelings about the summer being over, but Fall is definitely here.  But you can always look on the bright side and count your blessings for a fantastic summer with the mission trip, Discipleship week, VBS and consistent fellowship every week!  Don't take any of that for granted :)

We have a packed Fall with fellowship, the Fall Retreat and Rock the River so we will have to hit the ground running.
This Friday (7th), we'll meet up at 7:30pm in the youth room (202) to begin our series on 'Preparing for the Harvest'.  This is what will hopefully become a city-initiative in preparation for the Rock the River outreach event at the end of this month!  We've had the summer to say 'see you later' to some of our graduates but also welcome many of our incoming students so we'll have some icebreaker time on Friday as well, not to mention gear up for what is in store for an eventful September.

This Sunday (9th), we will begin our Fall Sunday School term with "Faith in the promises of God".  Is God an ever-present part of our reality? Sometimes as believers (young and old) it's difficult to comprehend the grace of God, we get stuck in our own prison, remaining ashamed of our past, unsure of God's love for us.  We lack faith in prayer, not trusting that God is fair or believing we can change.  We cling to doubt and worry, trusting more in money than in God, not actively making disciples or being a useful part of the church.  Step by step let's make every effort to know Him more, then we can learn to trust in His promises because of who He is.

Fall Retreat forms are in your e-mail and will be available shortly on the website, please return them as soon as possible as transportation arrangements need to be made.

Other announcements:
- Check out our sweet new (more streamlined and outrageously beautiful) website courtesy of Manson Yan:  http://cccoyouth.com

Coming up: Preparing for the Harvest series, Fall Retreat is booked for September 21-23rd, city-wide prayer on the 26th, pray for our retreat and Rock the River (Sept 29-30) the following week and bring your coffeehouse friends!

Also, let us know how we can be praying for you and if you would like to catch up.
See you all this Friday!

YF Grad sendoff at Emily's this Friday (24th) 5:30pm

Thanks again for your amazing participation in Discipleship Week.  Despite missing some regulars due to jobs or prior commitments, we still had 28 of you show up with an average of over 20 each day!  Praise the Lord that you guys made it a priority to attend each day and staff at both St. Luke's and Jericho Road have a high opinion of you guys and the Christ-like example that you set as kind and hard-working servants.  We still have a couple of sessions that we can go through at another time regarding honoring God through finances and purity that we can explore at YF the next week.  As a work-up to Rock the River in the Fall, our Fall Retreat and the weeks leading up to it will be focused on "Preparing for the Harvest" as we pray for a greater desire for the Kingdom.

This Friday (24th), YF will be having a YF Grad sendoff pool party at the home of Emily's aunt at 5:30pm (address in e-mail)!   She has offered her entire backyard for us to enjoy the in ground pool, potluck, patio and fellowship.  If you are coming at 5:30pm please bring some ready to eat food for potluck!  Each year, as another YF cycle transitions into the next stage of life, there is no suitable way to commission them - so we'll throw a party and pray for them :)  Even if it rains, we'll have plenty to do indoors with games, movies, food etc. Feel free to invite your friends! Come to enjoy not only the beautiful weather and the pool, but the chance to be together in fellowship, talk, laugh etc.

Time: Friday (24th) from 5:30pm to 9:00pm
Address: Address and Google Map Directions in your e-mail.
Bus directions (from Emily): Easiest bus stop would probably be the park and ride (at Eagleson) However there is one close to Cadence Gate (just outside the Great Canadian Superstore).
We can pick you up from the bus stop if you need us to.
Remember to BRING: Bathing suits (one piece or dark t-shirt), TOWELS, sunscreen, extra clothes, extra food/snacks/games.

Coming up: Fall Retreat is booked for September 21-23rd, pray for our retreat and Rock the River (Sept 29-30) the following week and bring your coffeehouse friends!

Let me know if you guys want to meet up during the week to catch up!
See you all on Friday at Emily's!

Awesome week

A reminder that there is no official YF program tonight as we had YF everyday this week :)  You are encouraged to spend the evening together or quality time with your fam!  It really was awesome seeing you guys each day this week, great participation each morning and every place we volunteer always admires you guys and is genuinely surprised at your work ethic and the examples you set (consistently every year!)  Keep being an example in speech, life, love, faith and purity (1 Tim 4:12)!
May God continue to transform you through and through, so you can shine like stars and stand out in the world.  He is faithful and He will do it.  Much love.

YF Discipleship Week (9:30am-12noon each day, Aug 13-17th)

A reminder that tomorrow is the beginning of Discipleship Week (August 13-17th) 9:30am - 12 noon each day, we are wrestling with Weird: Because Normal isn't Working which examines the way Jesus commands us to live our lives. With what is considered normal in society these days, the lives of Christians should look drastically different.  Meet at church every morning except for Thursday, on Thursday we will be meeting at the Jericho Road home at 10 Crerar Ave.  Print out the letter attached in your e-mail for your parents to fill out so they are aware of the service dates.   Friday night won't have an official YF event as Dweek is YF this week, but you are encouraged to hang out, VFYF-style!

VBS is coming up (20th-24th), thanks to all of you who volunteered, we are currently looking for rides for some of the children, if you have a sibling attending VBS with space in your car, please let us know!

Coming up (following Dweek):
Grad sendoff, Fall Retreat, Rock the River and more!

YF Waterfight @ Eric's this Friday, Discipleship Week next week

Hope everyone had a great civic holiday weekend, huge thanks to Em and Shelly for the Food Olympics events and the 20+ participants to make it awesome!  Thanks for praying for Sunday as I spoke on spiritual warfare.  This is the constant reality that we live in and we are frequently warned to be alert and in prayer.  Pray for our church, fellowship and friends.

This Friday (10th), we'll be having our Waterfight Extravaganza at the Pan's home  (address in your e-mail). (Google Maps Directions).  Arrive at 5:30pm for a potluck, bring food, feel free to arrive as you are able, Games and waterfight will start at 7pm and following that we will have an informal time of games and hanging out until fellowship ends at 9:20pm.  The forecast looks like 70% rain on Friday, but we'll make it work :)

The deets: Eric will be providing a couple hundred waterballoons, feel free to bring your own stash (like last year), bazookas and other special tools for your own 'tactical advantage'.   Bring Friends, Water guns, balloons (we'll have some but the more baloons, the more chaos), towels, clean change of clothes, from Eric:  " YFers will bring food for potluck, as well as any towels or change of clothe they will need. Dress will be shorts and t-shirts at all times, no white t-shirts. I would also suggest shorts to around knee-length, or just slightly less. (I'm so old fashion, the Ammish be trippin' =P) "

If I'm missing anything, maybe Eric can fill in blanks! :)

Next week is Discipleship Week (August 13-17th) 9:30am - 12noon each day, we are wrestling with a curriculum which examines the way Jesus commands us to live our lives. With what is considered normal in society these days, the lives of Christians should look drastically different.  Print out the letter for your parents to fill out so they are aware of the service dates.  Thursday we will be meeting at the Jericho Road home at 10 Crerar Ave, every other morning we will be meeting at church.

VBS is coming up (20th-24th), thanks to all of you who volunteered, we are currently looking for rides for some of the children, if you have a sibling attending VBS with space in your car, please let us know!

See you all at Eric's on Friday!

YF 'Food Olympics' this Friday (3rd) VBS request, DWeek and more

Many in the congregation continue to share that they were encouraged by what the Lord is doing in Ouje and in the lives of YF following the past sharing services in English and Chinese.  Thanks for all those who shared and for all of you continuing to be examples through your life (whether at home, church, school or work).  Praise the Lord for summer!  It was a beautiful day out last Friday and we were able to spend hours together at Mooney's eating, playing volleyball, sandman and manhunt... that was a lot of running :)   Thanks to everyone who brought food, chips, drinks, watermelon etc.

This Friday (3rd), back by special request; we'll be having a "Food Olympics" event here7:30PM at church!  (Formerly known as 'Food Fight' but that title was misunderstood).  The last time we had this event was 2 years ago and it was a blast!  You may want to eat a lighter supper (just ensure that the cook understands so no offense is taken).  There will be team competitions, several games and of course food.  Invite your friends from coffeehouse and we'll see you all on Friday night!

This Sunday (5th), please pray for me as I will be preaching in the English service.

VBS is coming up (20th-24th), thanks to all of you who volunteered, we are currently looking for rides for some of the children, if you have a sibling attending VBS with space in your car, please let us know!

Discipleship Week 'Weird" is coming up August 13-17th!  We'll have times of teaching, discussion and practical service opportunities in our community.  Many of these practical things have led to volunteering on a regular basis for some of you.  Some have developed deep burdens and it has helped play a role in life choices.  Pray that God would continue to shape all of us and make us more like Him!

Fall Retreat is booked for September 21-23rd, pray for our retreat and Rock the River (Sept 29-30) the following week and bring your coffeehouse friends!

Coming up:
Waterfight, Discipleship Week, Fall Retreat, Rock the River and more!

See you all on Friday!
