YF Basic: Prayer this Friday (15th) and free e-book :)

Thanks for everyone who joined us for the Relay for Life at Carleton, it was a pleasant surprise to see so many people from our church gather to show support, some even stayed overnight with late night Pho etc. Also, remember to thank our awesome H2O brothers/sisters who did a great job to host our mission trip fundraisers the last few weeks (still 1 coming up this week), they did this as a blessing/support to us and the church body has graciously responded!  Never forget that the church is a family and actively stands behind us in prayer and support!

This Friday (15th), we'll continue through part 6 of the Basic series that started almost 2 years ago with Prayer.  This is such an important aspect of our life that many of us seem to find difficult to cultivate... we'd also like to dedicate time to break up into smaller groups and pray for one another (missions, exams, joys, trials, life in general).  This is take two as the last time we scheduled to have this study it was a snowstorm.  Over the last couple of years we've slowly journeyed through this series which challenges today's church to reclaim church/fellowship to what God desires it to be according to the Bible. We've looked at Fear God, Follow Jesus, Holy Spirit, Fellowship and Teaching. Our focus this week will be on prayer... Is it possible that some of our prayers go unanswered because we are praying out of a sense of obligation or maybe for the wrong things? Are our prayers supposed to be a list of things we want, or are they really intended to be an ongoing dialogue with God about the things He wants? Bring your Bibles and a willingness to be challenged and change.

PLUS, I've attached (to your e-mail) a famous book on prayer 'Hidden Life of Prayer' that was endorsed by John Piper and provided for free (legally of course!)  so read a chapter each day or however much you desire :)

This Sunday (17th), we'll likely be outdoors again and return with the 'devotional thought' and a brief lesson in our series of honoring parents & family.

PRAY for one another, pray for our upcoming mission trips, this is a busy season for many of you so pray for exams and finishing strong, pray for perseverance in some of the spiritual goals you mentioned a couple of weeks ago (daily reading, praying, reading the whole Bible, learning more about spiritual warfare etc.)

Praise God for another huge blessing from our friends at Salem, I'll be catching up with them this week and they have agreed to once again provide Bibles for us to distribute for free at Ouje this summer!

Reply and let us know how we can be praying for you and setting up a time to meet up.
see you on Friday!
