YF Bible study this Friday (and upcoming)

last week's big brothers and sisters event was really fun :) shelly still has burn marks on her feet from the crawling game (they are getting darker everyday), too bad our blue team won that event :) we really appreciate how you interacted with and treated your little brothers and sisters. epic win. thanks for taking part in our sunday school series on decisions as well, we looked at romans 12 and judged for ourselves whether we were more conformed to the world than renewed as we looked at the latter half of the chapter.

this friday (27th) we will be continuing our study of nehemiah and how a cupbearer rose to having a tremendous national impact as God honoring leader. please bring your Bibles as we continue to discover ways to grow in our own lives as examples and leaders.

i want to remind you again about 'families feud' on march 13th, make sure you do your best to prioritize that event and give your parents 'the memo' for that event, we want you to bring one of your parents to the event. remember TC is coming up soon, grades 9-10 are march 16-17, grades 11-12 are march 18-19.

please send in pictures, it doesn't have to be a nice one, in fact - the more embarrassing it is the better :) (so i can develop a wallet sized picture of you for the magnet prayer board!) a simple request, just click reply, attach, pick photo and BLAM!

let us know how you are doing!
see you all friday!

YF as big brothers and big sisters this Friday

we were really thankful to God about the maturity and curiosity that you all showed during our love and relationship series these past couple of weeks. both the guy groups and girl groups asked honest questions and provided good input into the hard work and dedication it takes in preparation for a healthy relationship. we really love you guys and are grateful at the level of participation and honesty you showed! thanks! if you have any other questions from the discussion, feel free to fire it off to us, if its a girl question regarding girl specifics, you can send it to shelly and rae-anne.

this friday (20th), we will be asking you to serve as big brothers and sisters in some fun events at AWANA this week, they are having the annual AWANA big bro/big sister day. you will be paired with a younger child for team events and stuff. i've illustrated this helpful diagram to show how it works, it's awesomeness! those children who don't have a biological sibling that is older than them will need a big brother or sister in Christ (you) to help them out :) we are a big family after all.

just to keep in mind we have our 'families feud' event on march 13th, may want to give the rents a heads up for that event, we want you to bring one of your parents to the event, it'll be great :) our tc forms should be officially processed soon (your missing info is in now =) remember your dates, grades 9-10 are march 16-17, grades 11-12 are march 18-19.

still hoping that give a wallet size or send pictures (so i can develop a wallet sized picture of you for the magnet prayer board!) just a little favor please. also just to remind, we always have sunday school each sunday at 9:30am in which we are discussing 'decisions'.

let us know how you are doing!
see you all friday!

Love and Relationships part 2 (at EACO) this Friday

us leaders spent like almost two hours talking AFTER our relationships talk last friday! it was an incredible experience for us as well, we felt like we learned a lot from your input and were amazed at the mature discussion that both groups (guys and girls) had. thanks for the awesome discussion, i'll keep the girl and guy silhouettes that you filled out in my office :) we pray that you really take everything you learned last week to heart as it will be a TREMENDOUS blessing to your future marriage/life should you really try to apply those characteristics and habits in your life.

this friday we will be doing part two of our love and relationships talk, we will be meeting at Emmanuel Alliance Church (EACO) this week.
4 Thorncliff Place
Nepean, ON K2H 6L2
(get directions)
if your siblings are in AWANA, please ask your parents to drop you off at EACO first (earlier ie. 7:00pm), if you are coming from the east end, arrange a carpool with east families. please commit to coming and fellowship with us as we continue this important discussion. most of you have completed the year waiver for outdoor activities, if not here it is.

ohhhh and please send me pictures (so i can develop a wallet sized picture of you for the magnet prayer board!) just a small favor you can do, it would be really nice to have a picture of all of you!

AFC has received our TC forms and was unable to process a lot of the forms because of missing info, like health cards etc. i've been able to dig through some old forms to provide information for some of you (please just provide the information the first time and the right cheques). but i've sent some messages to some of you that still require info, please return that asap.

the ski-ing/snowboard trip is looking less likely as only a couple of you show interest. shelly and i are still willing to take you if a group of you would like to go. mont cascades on saturday, feb 21st costs are lift ticket: $13.50; Ski or snowboard rentals: $12.50;

now that the bus strike is over and people have some more mobility, feel free to hit us up for a hot chocolate, coffee or something, or if you want a free dinner at josh and shelly's or something :)

see you at EACO this friday!

Love and Relationships talk this Friday

last week's pop-a-baloon-a-palooza was a blast! i'll be sure to develop some of those pictures. once again, thanks to brad and raeanne for coming up with some awesome games! it got pretty competitive at times and i still have some bruises to show for it. poor kim even had a chair thrown at her :O!

this friday we will begin our two part 'love and relationships' series. whether you are in a dating relationship, have never dated, or don't plan on dating for awhile - i am sure you have some questions about relationships: what does a healthy and honoring relationship look like? what kind of characteristics do we look for in a relationship? do i know what i want from a relationship? how can i honor God and be a better boyfriend / girlfriend? pastor shawn and the youth group from Emmanuel will be joining us at CCCO this week.

also, this is the last week to let me know if you want to ski/snowboard on feb 21st, they are very cheap prices (lift ticket: $13.50; Ski or snowboard rentals: $12.50; Lessons: 10.50$ (minimum of 6 participants); helmets $5.00) so please let me know ASAP. 'families feud' has been moved to march 13th, please take note and warn your 'rents :)

drop an e-mail to let me know how you are doing. also thanks to everyone who sent a picture in, please keep sending pictures! i want to get them developed for the magnet board.
see you all friday!
