ccco missions conference

it was good to see three YF car loads come to the city-wide worship and prayer gathering at scotiabank place, the organizer of the gathering, stopped by our site to say hi on the last post. thanks for your support to for His mercy ministries.

it is encouraging to see that the YF has been playing a small part in serving the homeless community in ottawa (the mission, shepherds of good hope, and His mercy) recently. shepherds of good hope says thank you to those who were also a part of the thanksgiving donation recently.

props to jocelyn, natasha, neva, fiona, jeffrey, nathan and elysia who have volunteered to serve tonight at hallelujah night, shelly and i will see you tonight!

this week will be ccco's annual missions conference and will include sharing from members of our very own congregation who have served overseas this summer. the h2o and english congregation is also participating. also if there is time after it is complete, we will have a short YF meeting.

the gathering and rock climbing

it was awesome to see so many of you this friday for the Bible study on the parable of the Sower. thanks for your attentiveness and to those who were transparent with me, i am always available to talk to you guys (call, write or meet up)... if i haven't responded to your e-mail yet, i am getting to it.

this saturday, as mentioned a couple of weeks ago, will be the city wide worship and prayer night at the scotiabank place (sat, oct 28th 6pm). admission is free, but a freewill donation is appreciated. directions to scotiabank place, parking is free, and the oc transpo is providing shuttle service on 403 for this event (more oc info). more information at my last post here or the website worshipandprayer.ca.

as discussed on friday, the rock climbing group has to be on sunday night from 6-8pm to accomodate our group size (no groups larger than 12 are allowed unless its sat morning or sun night, this is to avoid conflict with chinese school). most of you agreed with sunday night so we will meet at coyote rock gym at 5:30pm on sunday, 29th. important: for everyone under 18 (which is most of you), this coyote climbing waiver form MUST be filled out and signed by your parents/guardians or you will not be able to climb - no exceptions. cost is $15, many of you have already been there, but the directions to coyote rock gym are here(google maps, coyote website).

also as mentioned on friday, we still need more volunteers for the upcoming fall festival (formerly hallelujah night) on the 31st, i will be contacting those who have volunteered on friday, please serve if possible on this day.

the gathering

this is an annual event hosted by city-wide worship and prayer, doors open at 6pm. on sat, oct 28.

"let's gather together as Jesus prayed we would in John 17 and let our unity be a witness to our community. The evening will feature a diversity of worship styles to reflect the diversity within the Body of Christ in our city. We believe our united prayers for the Church and the people who live in our region will have a lasting impact on the advancing of the Kingdom of God."

there will be a free-will offering, proceeds will be going towards His Mercy ministries, a soup kitchen in the heart of vanier. last year there were 2,500 people who went to the scotiabank place, and they expect 5,000 this year. its free admission, if you are interested in going, contact me and we will try and get a group going, maybe we can all go after rock climbing that saturday? for more information visit: worshipandprayer.ca anyways see you at the gym tonight!

retreat reflections and rock groups

this is one of my favorite pictures, it's in a frame in my office. it's one of those pictures that - during the short while you look at it, you can forget all the meaningless nonsense (and forgive people) that discourage you or ruin your day. at the same time, it shows our dependence. remember His promises, to always be with you and that you can find rest and refuge in Him. remember to fellowship with one another like we did at the retreat and were reminded of this sunday.

in regards to the retreat, here are the retreat reflections, thank you to everyone who volunteered to write one and share it with the YF, and maybe in CCCO-K. i'll still remember that retreat as one of the best times with you guys, well and these last two summers of course ;).

this week we will gather in rock groups at the church (usual time) and we will discuss about the topics each group wants to cover, hopefully reach a consensus, and then decide on your leader(s). the first one after that will begin next month. in regards to the rock climbing, some of you have e-mailed regarding Chinese school overlap... coyote can only accomodate our group on saturday mornings, so i will try to contact another place! maybe vertical reality?

gym night keeps getting moved and is scheduled now for october 21 (sat), so lets hold that date for now, things keep changing (!)... like iron chef is now on november 11th. this years getaway is tentatively scheduled for friday march 16 through to sunday march 18, we have been meeting with pastor shawn from eaco and pastor dave from ocac. please book your last week of the march break for the getaway! also added some new pictures courtesy of edmond.
update: updated the reflections, feel free to keep sending them and i will keep uploading them. the new version is the same link.
