until we meet again...

although (because of the freezing rain) many of you could not make it last night, we still had over fifteen people come to the Christmas party!! it was loads of fun and i was sooo tired by the end of it. fun times, great gift exchanges, loads of cake and treats. just wanted to say that i'll be leaving the day after Christmas so i won't be back until january 9th.

next week (27th) there will be no yf program, i've also tried really hard (in addition to C&Y core team) to find a replacement to supervise an new year's all-nighter for all of you, but we couldn't. however if one of you decides to open your home for the yf, feel free to do so, it just won't be an official ccco event - but it would be nice for you all to get together to celebrate new years (*hint* find a way to hang out as yf'ers). frederick will supervise you guys on january 5th at church. i'll be heading out to new brunswick soon, blessings and much love!!! remember us! ;)

Christmas celebration with Pure Energy

first, i want to say thanks for everyone who made it out to gloucester to see the nativity story and then went shopping at st. laurent. it was a rather large group to see the movie and i'll admit there were a few tears in my eyes throughout the movie.

to those who haven't seen it yet, it is even better than i expected it to be and made the anticipation of His birth (in that time) so real and vivid. i was not the only person who cried though (guys too, not just girls) =) it was a powerful reminder of the birth of the King, the birth that split the calendar in half, brought Peace and changed the world forever.

this friday we will have a Christmas celebration with Pure Energy, there will be games and a gift exchange, please bring a small gift (anywhere from $5 to $10)... there can be some pretty sweet gifts in that price range. i'll pick up some snacks and refreshments too, so we can just have some time to chill with one another afterwards.

i still need those of you who are interested in becoming leaders for this year's getaway to let me know as soon as possible. for those of you who have already experienced a getaway, it is a winter retreat, where we get together with youth groups from eaco, ocac, ocbc etc. and spend a weekend in fellowship. it is from march 16th-18th. we will have a couple of meetings with the leaders in other youth groups, if you are interested let me know soon or i'll come to you ;).

update: nativity story location changed

i called the empires theater at world exchange plaza and they only have an automated machine that says the nativity story is still playing on saturday, but i checked the website for good measure and it won't be showing tomorrow.

so we'll have to go a little bit earlier to silvercity in gloucester (95 bus takes you all the way there) [detailed map], the movie starts at 11:45am but please show up 20-30 minutes in advance (11:15am) so we can get seats together and watch the trailers ;) sorry for the change, if you want to still look for gifts for friends and family together i am still willing to hang out, we just have to bus back to rideau which won't take too long. this will be one of the last times i can hang out with you guys before i get married!

blessings!

YF Christmas outing this Saturday

hey lovely yf peeps, thanks for the wonderful start to the Bible studies on the book of James, it was great to hear many of you sharing, thanks! (even if i put some of you on the spot *smile*). you may be wondering about the picture, shelly and i just watched A Charlie Brown Christmas last night (yes that one from 1965), and there was a line in it where charlie brown talks about how people have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas and his friend linus explains Jesus' birth. well seeing as it is that time of the year, i thought it would be great if the YF would get together this saturday to catch the afternoon matinee of The Nativity Story (official website) at the World Exchange Plaza 111 Albert St. [detailed map]. it starts at 1:15pm, so please meet at the exchange plaza around 12:45pm to pick up tickets.

the nativity story is an account of Jesus' birth and follows the lives of Mary and Joseph leading up to it. after the movie, if you are still available, a group of us (or all of us) can walk to the very nearby Rideau centre to do some Christmas shopping for friends and family for the afternoon. and even if you want to hang out longer than that, i am willing to ;) have a blessed week and looking forward to seeing you all this saturday!

YF Bible study this Friday

the schedule has been slightly changed because of the freezing rain last week, we will begin the book of James this friday. please prepare your hearts for the study this week and (important) please bring your Bibles to the Bible study. if you do not have a Bible, please talk to me and i will see what i can do to fix that =). i will be reimbursing the YF members who paid for english cookoff ingredients this friday (if it wasn't your money, remember to give it back to your parents! :P ).

and just because i haven't reminded you for awhile, the getaway is march 16-18th. please remember to remind your family so it can hopefully be incorporated into your march break vacation time. leaders will likely be needed during the getaway, if any of you are interested in YF leadership and think you are ready for leadership responsibilities then let me know. please e-mail shelly or myself or call me whenever you would like, i would love to know how you are doing and whatever prayer requests you would like to share. blessings and see you on friday.

YF cancelled tonight

it was a cold and slippery morning but i was still planning to proceed with the Bible study tonight, but a couple of parents have just phoned and i briefly spoke with Pastor Francis and think it is wise that you avoid the roads tonight for your safety and your parents. so yf is cancelled tonight, i just e-mailed everyone and i am in the process of trying to phone families right now and just leaving the message with whoever answers the phone - i trust it will get to you =)

many blessings and stay indoors!
