YF Bible study this Friday

thanks for everyone who came out to no other name last friday. i like hearing from you guys about it, while we were there i heard great things from you about the workshops, speaker, band etc. it was a great way to reflect on Christ during good friday.

Saul's conversion on the road to Damascusthis friday, (its been a while now) but we will continue our study on the book of Acts. we will be studying chapters 9-10 this week, so feel free to read ahead. these chapters may be somewhat familiar to some of you and completely new to others. please bring your Bibles!

also, next friday (april 4th) we will be joining eaco and ocac (your getaway buddies) for a gym night at the nepean sportsplex, as usual please fill out this form and return it to me. also its not too late to send in your sentence proposals for the youth room too! see you this friday at church!

No other Name this Friday!

what an amazing retreat, so many people have been praying for this retreat and praise God for everything that happened! i got to speak with a lot of you and i know there were many commitments made this weekend. whether it was to commit to knowing Him or one of the four commitments shared on sunday morning. please honor them, share them with me and/or share them with people in the fellowship for accountability.

some of you have re-committed yourselves to Christ, and my prayer is maybe you also prayed the prayer on sunday morning. if you did, please tell me ALL about it! if you were unsure of your faith but are sure now... please tell me ALL about it (even if you already did at the retreat, id love to hear it again!) if you want to take the next step in your faith - baptism, leadership etc, i'm always here for you to talk to!

this friday we have ANOTHER awesome opportunity. it was amazing to hear from paul at the getaway and he (along with the exousia youth pastors) have put on a youth event to celebrate Jesus on the only calendar day that is still only about Jesus. it is at Arlington Woods, 225 McClellan Road [detailed directions] and is $30 (supper is included). please let me know you are coming after registering at http://noothername.net/. please arrange for your rides and meet there at 9am and be picked up at 9pm. if you choose to worship with your family here at ccco, that's great as well! hope to see lots of you this friday, it'll be great!!!

YF Getaway 2008 Deep End!

thanks so much for everyone coming through the bad weather last week for the sex talk. many thanks to pastor joey for coming to share with us and all the preparation. shelly and i want to thank all of you for your honesty and participation both during the session with pastor joey and then our split into groups time. perhaps we'll recap a bit the week after no other name. remember to register at noothername.net

this weekend is the getaway!! after all the months of preparation, please keep praying for all the student leaders, worship team, speaker, pastors and everyone attending!

please bring:
Bible, clothes for the 3 days and 2 nights. appropriate clothing for both indoor and outdoor games and activities. a pen, paper or notebook, sleeping bag, pillow. hygeine items such as toothbrush, comb, shampoo, deodorant, cameras.

please don't bring:
ipods, mp3 players and the sort. no alcohol, tobacco or weapons of any kind permitted.

please meet at OCAC (a 2 minute walk from CCCO [directions]) between 4:15-4:30pm on Friday, March 14 - buses will depart shortly after. Please prepare to be picked up around 5pm Sunday, March 18th from OCAC. if you have invited friends, please remind them of these times. since we didn't get to have our student leadership prayer meeting on sunday, hopefully any of you can gather at church this wednesday for prayer meeting at 7:30pm, we will be praying for the getaway and you are all welcome.

YF sex talk this Friday

thanks everyone for another great Bible study and sunday school, thanks also for getting your getaway forms in by the deadline (although there were some 'i'll get my parents right now' incidents ;) so far there are already 23 of you going! and there is still a couple of you that are coming but have yet to get the forms in. please let me know by e-mail RIGHT away and get the form and cheque as soon as possible.

this week, we have the awesome opportunity to hear from pastor joey again. he is the youth pastor at the met and has talked a lot about relationships, media influence and sex. last year we were blessed to hear from him and discuss afterwards. i've met with pastor joey on a couple of occasions and he has prayed for us and is pleased to come share with us again. please commit to coming on time because we will begin at 7:30pm sharp.

there is one last getaway student leadership meeting with all 3 youth groups and it will be held here at CCCO this sunday (9th) at 1:00pm - 2:30pm. lunch will be provided, short sharing from groups (ie. Activities group, etc) and prayer. if you have made the commitment to be a leader, honor it this sunday as we gather to pray at our final meeting before the getaway.

also Good Friday is approaching and it is the only calendar day that REMAINS only about Jesus, so on that day (march 21st) we plan to attend 'No Other Name' like last year. high school students from around ottawa (EACO, OCAC included) are gathering to worship and fellowship with one another - the doors open at 9:30am and it is all day with a selection of workshops, worship and speakers, it ends at 9:30pm and is at Arlington Woods, 225 McClellan Road. shelly and i will be there, if you are interested registration is at noothername.net and is $29. under church name, use the full "Chinese Christian Church of Ottawa" if you choose not to go to no other name, than you can attend CCCO's Good Friday service in the morning. see you all this friday!
