YF Bowling with English congregation this Saturday

this weekend, shelly and i will be in aurora, on (yeah, i've never heard of that town either) for this youth pastors conference. i went to it last year (different topic of course) and it was really great so we're looking forward to it, except for all the time in the car. it starts at 8:15am so that means we will have to leave on friday evening.

so as mentioned before, the YF is encouraged to take part in the english congregation's bowling day this saturday, may 3rd at the RA centre (2451 riverside drive) from 4pm - 7:30pm with pizza dinner for all. most of you have already registered (or your parents have registered for you), but if you still haven't put your name on the list, please e-mail michelle (i'll include the address in your e-mail) by tomorrow night so that she can arrange the teams.

as for events that are coming up, next friday (may 9th) will be unified: our joint worship and prayer night, this could be the first of many, so please keep it in prayer, we will be gathering at EACO this time. lots of preparation and prayer has gone into this and testimonies will be shared as well. please begin raising awareness and support for our Impact project this year, if you didn't receive the forms on friday or sunday, i'll give them to you this sunday. we will be raising money to support Christian Children's Fund and can choose together what we desire to provide with the money you've raised! That will take place on May 23/24th at OCBC.
shelly and i will see you for sunday school!

YF Bible study this Friday

it was great to see the hard work that you did at st. luke's last friday, many of you went beyond what was asked of you and worked diligently as you served the people of our community. st. luke has a wonderful ministry to the people in our community and YF has been a part of that a number of times now. i look forward to us being a part of community service later in may as our impact continues through our fast and raising support for those less fortune than ourselves.

this friday, we will continue our Bible study, looking into the book of acts. last week we covered 10 and 11, seeing how the disciples spread the gospel and obeyed God through difficult issues and barriers. we will be looking at chapters 12 and 13 this friday so please read ahead. please bring your Bibles as well.

as for events that are coming up, please keep in mind our annual 30 Hour Famine is now entitled: Impact and will be raising money to support Christian Children's Fund and can choose together what we desire to provide with the money you've raised! That will take place on May 23/24th at OCBC. on may 9th, as mentioned before will be our joined praise and worship night with our Getaway brothers and sisters which will take place on may 9th at EACO. see you this friday at church!

YF serving the community this Friday

last friday was really encouraging to me, to share about the potential that shelly and i see in you all as the next generation. you are the next generation and have potential to be a huge impact in our world. we continued to study acts (10-11) and saw how these disciples made a huge difference in the community and brought the gospel to the gentiles. even through criticism and trials, peter obeyed God and did the ministry he was called to do.

this friday we have another opportunity to put our faith in action by serving at st. lukes lunch club and drop-in center. these hours will also count toward your community service hours for high school. you have already saved the kitchen staff weeks of preparation and did many various tasks to serve the hungry and homeless. our church desires to impact the community, so let's continue to be an example in the youth ministry. we are very fortunate and please pray that we would find opportunities to serve in the best ways we can. please meet at church no later than 7:30pm as we hope to go to st.lukes as soon as possible!

remember the summer opportunities, if you are interested in taking that next step in your faith, get shelly and i to take you out for coffee or something! let me know if you are interested in baptism, summer trips, CEF etc.

see you on friday!

YF Bible study this Friday

it was nice to see many of you come to the sportsplex last week, car pooling together and even bringing friends. i also really enjoyed sunday school this week, even teaching it, being reminded of the nature of a good Shepherd and how we will always be guided, restored, protected and have peace if we choose.

this week we will be continuing our journey through the book of Acts, last time we had a Bible study we looked at saul's conversion and how no one is beyond hope. this week we will continue by studying chapters 10 and 11. please bring your Bibles and feel free to read ahead.

also, please continue to consider CEF as an opportunity this summer, its from june 22 - july 2, natasha, val and jeremy learned a lot last summer and really enjoyed it. also, a few of you are considering baptism this summer, which is awesome! please talk to me about it so we can arrange classes etc. if you want to talk / pray with shelly and i sometime let us know so we can meet up too! see you this friday!
