YF Bible study in Romans this Friday (27th)

It was a blast on Friday for Babyfest with Pure Energy!! I know I had a kick out of watching you all eat fun dip and lemons as fast as you can, the fully loaded diaper relay race and the whole babyfood through the pantyhose was a nice touch as well!! Shelly took a lot of hilarious pictures :) In Sunday school we continued our study of essential theology by looking at God's natural characteristics and how that fleshes out in our daily life.

This Friday (27th) we will be continuing our study of the book of Romans (chapters 7 and 8). These chapters continue where we left off last time with the Holy Spirit's work of sanctification in the lives of believers. Please bring your Bibles, open heart and your four color pens (I hope you are loving the underlining!). We will be looking into what it means to be more than conquerers in Christ and how to live in the Spirit. This week's Sunday school is the questions rotation so keep submitting questions as we address them every second week.

Also, a little overdue, but Rae-Anne took some killer pictures from our Fall Retreat and you can check them out here: http://picasaweb.google.com/joshwang/09FallRetreat

Let us know if you have prayer requests, want to meet up, need references etc :)
See you all on Friday!

YF Interactive group games this Friday (20th)

After a somewhat long hiatus, we were able to continue our study in Romans last week. Thanks for participating in the discussions, asking questions and looking into Romans 5 and 6 together last week. The main idea, again - is that we have died to sin and are being sanctified (we are dead to sin and made alive in Christ) are you grow in Christ, trust in him and allow the Spirit to transform you. We each have a choice to make, living in Christ through trusting Him or trusting our sin nature which leads to death. We also continued our essential theology series in Sunday school and discussed questions regarding spiritual warfare and satan.

This Friday (20th), YF will play some interactive group games in the upstairs sanctuary. We'll divide into teams and have prizes for the winning team after competing in a series of events, bring your friends and a great attitude :) - You may want to wear appropriate footwear too. Please feel free to bring some snacks and drinks (to add to the variety) for afterwards too! Join us for Sunday school this week as we continue our series on essential theology and submit your questions for our next week's Sunday school discussion! Visit the YF website to look ahead and you'll notice much of our schedule is tentatively laid out for the coming months.

YF Leadership retreat is on January 1st to January 2nd. We've been holding leadership retreat the past 2 years and it's a good time to work as a fellowship, read Scripture, pray together and plan for the upcoming year, retreats, events and outreach (specifically the coffeehouse). This is advance notice just in case families can arrange Christmas vacation a day or two early to accomodate for the retreat. We'll talk about the YF coffeehouse, Getaway retreat teams, Engage high school initiative etc. It's always fun too because it's an overnight event with meals together, movie, hangout etc.

Weekly reminder about Engage your World in your e-mails.

Let us know how to pray for you and if you want to meet up!
See you Friday!

YF Bible study in Romans this Friday (13th)

That was a really fun time on Friday for Bigger and Better, every group had stories to tell and some of you were able to take home some usable stuff. Now the youth room still has a European PS3 and a broken sink in it... but anyways it was really cool to see you inviting friends and have some fun together! We also talked about the Godhead Trinity in Sunday School and looked into the divinity and unique roles of the Father, Spirit and Son in Scripture.

This Friday (13th), yeah yeah it's Friday the 13th, we will be continuing our Bible study in Romans (chapters 5,6). These (along with all chapters in Romans) are really important chapters in faith, theology and application. Please bring your Bibles, open heart and your four color pens (I hope you are loving the underlining!). We will be talking about life in Christ and discussing the struggle of sin. Join us for Sunday school each morning too as we look into matters of Theology and address the questions you all have.

As you heard during the Sunday service, Iron Chef is being substituted for another program, so YF will be having an interactive games night (involving running around, relays and the like :) on that Friday night (20th) in the upstairs sanctuary, so have your friends on standby. :)

Engage Your World info in your e-mails.

Please keep your Saturday, Dec 12th (next month) open as we plan to cooperate with children and Pure Energy for a presentation at St. Vincent Hospital in our own community as a blessing to the seniors, we'll also get together for a huge secret santa exchange as well.

If you are praying/thinking of baptism this Christmas, please fill and return the form in your e-mail ASAP,
Baptism classes are starting this Sunday right after service.

Let us know how to pray for you and if you want to meet up!
See you Friday!

YF Bigger or Better this Friday (7:00pm Nov 6th)

Thanks for the open discussion on Friday regarding hope in suffering, we were able to revisit Job and the prodigal son and talk about hope for tomorrow. I was fortunate to have spoken at the Pure Energy retreat as well and some of them were making commitments to repent and know Christ so be an example/encourage your younger siblings if they are in Pure Energy. We continue to look into matters of theology for Sunday school, our last two classes have been very interactive to answer some of the questions posed at the beginning of our semester, you guys have voiced your appreciation for that and we will be addressing questions on rotating weeks, so if you don't already, join us for Sunday school!

This Friday (6th) we plan to play "BIGGER or better!" with some h2o brothers and sisters. Be at Church (or more accurately - 118) at 7:00pm (so 30 minutes earlier than usual)

RULES (subject to change should a brilliant idea come up):
EACH GROUP will be designated an area (with accompanying adults) to visit homes and trade a paperclip up to the biggest or best item to win! Bring camera's because it'll be fun to see what each group ends up with. some basic rules so we don't have to explain each one on friday:
1. Time limit: each group has to be back at the youth room by 8:50-9:00pm at the latest
2. Make at least 5 trades ie) paperclip for a ruler, ruler for a picture frame, picture frame for a stuffed animal, stuffed animal for a chair, chair for a bigger chair, big chair for a sofa, sofa for a... "uh oh, how are we going to get this sofa back?"
3. No relatives houses
4. Have to bring the item back to church (if it is something that cannot be thrown out easily, then you must figure out if one person in your group can take it home)
maybe you can get more cushions for the youth room! :)

Bring your friends (more hands the better!) and warm clothes for the outside! If you haven't filled out the year waiver form (in your e-mail), please bring that back too (one-time thing for the year)

Please keep your Saturday, Dec 12th (next month) open as we plan to cooperate with children and Pure Energy for a presentation at St. Vincent Hospital in our own community as a blessing to the seniors, we'll also get together for a huge secret santa exchange as well.

Engage your world information is in your e-mails.

A Hillsong United documentary is playing in theaters across Ottawa tomorrow. A couple of you have expressed interest, I think the Yip family is going in the East and Laura mentioned it too so you guys can totally get together mid-week for Hillsong: We're all in this Together.

If you are praying/thinking of baptism this Christmas, please fill and return the form in your e-mail ASAP, we need to arrange the group for baptism classes right away.

Let us know how you are doing, if you want to meet or have prayer requests
See you Friday at 7pm!
