Pop-a-Baloon-a-Palooza this Friday! (TC, ski/snowboard)1
bet you are all tired from the exam weeks hey? after this week, you should be free of exams! what better time to celebrate? :)
this friday (30th) is Pop-a-Baloon-a-Palooza!!! you need to know that it involves baloons and it's going to be a lot of fun! make sure to bring your friends and clothes and shoes that are comfortable to walk/run in! we will be meeting in the basement sanctuary no later than 7:30pm. next week (feb 6th) is our first talk in a series of love and relationships with EACO.
this is also
the last week to get your TC forms in. we will not accept forms after this week and you will have to pay a late registration fee and find your own place to stay and ride. please fill out the right form (9-10) (11-12), and a cheque to Ottawa Chinese Youth Ministerium for $105.
we've been invited to join a
ski/snowboard trip with alliance churches. it is at mont cascades on saturday, feb 21st costs are lift ticket: $13.50; Ski or snowboard rentals: $12.50; Lessons: 10.50$ (minimum of 6 participants); helmets $5.00. reply to me within the next week as we may need more rides (cost may vary according to rides).

YF fun gathering this Friday (bring TC forms, food and pictionary!)
first off, i want to thank everyone for sitting so close to the front on sunday and showing support! it's nice to have all the most familiar faces right in the front row to make funny faces, actually, you were all paying a lot of attention (which is always appreciated! we love you guys! :) it was also good to hear a refreshing change of voice with brad teaching about planning with prayer and preparation from nehemiah and james sharing about wisdom and knowledge from job this weekend! kudos guys!
i know it's exam week and the weather is blah and sleep is being sacrificed for study and all. that's why this friday will hopefully be a refreshing break from all that (and we need to make more use of the TV/wii combo that was donated to us from parents!) haha so bring pictionary/risk/wii controllers/food and friends and join us this friday in the student room to unwind! we also want to decorate the place so let's get some ideas on that as well!! rae-anne even thought we could do like a photo shoot day and post lots of pictures of us in the room because she is pro with the camera!
also, don't forget your TC forms: http://www.afc-ca.org/TC2009 fill out the right form (jr 9-10, sr 11-12, no exceptions) and bring a cheque to "OCYM" for $105 this Friday, we will likely not be able to bring absolutely everybody, so getting your form in early will guarantee you the ride and a place to stay with everyone!

YF Nehemiah study this Friday (Important TC info!)
thanks for coming to learn from nehemiah's example of prayer and our spiritual gifts sharing on sunday. we had the opportunity to hear from the leadership retreat students about what their gifts are and how they intend to serve the church with them. we still have a couple of people to hear from, hopefully at sunday school this week.
this friday we will continue our study in nehemiah with chapter 2. feel free to read ahead and come prepared on friday. pop-a-baloon-a-palooza has been moved to january 30th to coincide with the end of your exams! WOO! remember to bring your friends and prepare to have a lot of fun :) please bring your Bibles and prepare your heart so that we can see how this passionate leader made so much of an impact!

http://www.afc-ca.org/TC2009 and RETURNED to me by sunday, february 1st or you will have to arrange for your own ride and place to stay. there are two forms JR (grades 9-10) and SR (grades 11-12), fill out the grade that you are in. transportation (buses) and a place to accommodate all our groups has been arranged (its a mini-Getaway in TC as the nights you will be able to spend together), please attach a $105 cheque payable to "OCYM" or "Ottawa Chinese Youth Ministerium" to your form. very short form and there is no reason you can't fill it out and bring it in before then :)

YF Bible study this Friday and sunday school
we loved having you all over to our place on friday and many leaders stayed saturday as well for the retreat! the time together was great! i am excited about the vision, passages and the planning and brainstorming we shared during the leadership retreat and look forward to hearing you share about your spiritual gifts with the fellowship for sunday school this week. we have some great events to look forward to this year :)
this friday, we will have begin a new Bible study series on a book you may have yet to read in the old testament. we will look into the Word to see how a total obscure character rose to national recognition as he lived out passionate leadership as a godly example. so please bring your Bibles this week as we begin to study the book of nehemiah. through this study we hope to gain insight into how we can live as leaders today. remember that next week is pop-a-baloonapalooza! begin inviting friends for that event :)
every week we realize how blessed we are to have such a wonderful group of YF! we are a family, do your best to treat one another like family :) we love you guys!
