YF Sharing/Testimony & Prayer this Friday (22nd) Ouje this Sunday (24th)

Thanks for the meaningful discussion on prayer last week, as a fellowship it's been encouraging to be a part of the 'football huddles', korean prayer and as a family praying on our knees together.  We were able to focus on the Lord's prayer together, remembering personal requests, our mission trip and each another during the final exam season at school.  Thanks also for taking part in the relay, through Eugenia spearheading efforts $1615 was raised for cancer research.  What an amazing season of ministry with the coffeehouse, community projects, ouje prep etc.  May you continue to please the Lord in every way, bearing fruit in every good work and grow in the knowledge of God.

This Friday (22nd) will be a time of sharing, testimony and prayer.  Please come to fellowship with something to share that the Lord has been teaching you.  After the Getaway, we realized that we need to allow more room for us to encourage one another by what the Lord has been teaching us.  Share what God has been teaching you through your devotion, through the exam season, through your reading plan, share some goals you have set in regards to faith.  Most of you will be done your exams, so you are encouraged to join us in celebration :)

This Sunday (24th) we will be leaving on our trip to Ouje-Bougoumou.  Praise the Lord from the wonderful support from brothers and sisters!   Our H2O fellowship (with big thanks to the careers group (led by Shaun, Tim, Vincent) worked hard to prepare 3 weeks of appetizers, meals and desserts and helped raise over $1500 for Ouje (that's not counting envelope donations), and the church has responded by donating even more than our goal!  So as we prepare for this trip, know that our church stands behind us through prayer, fasting and financial support!   Every year, the prayer & fasting schedule that auntie Salina puts together fills up and I just sent them a very long list of prayer requests for our trip.  For those on the team, meet at the church on Sunday at 8:15am with bags packed and ready to go.

Upcoming:
YF Mission trip to Ouje-Bougoumou (June 24-June 30th)
YF Bigger or Better (Saturday, July 7th)
YF Discipleship Week (August 13-17th)

Let us know how we can be praying for your life (growth, exams etc.) and if you would like to set up a time to catch up!
See you all on Friday!

YF Basic: Prayer this Friday (15th) and free e-book :)

Thanks for everyone who joined us for the Relay for Life at Carleton, it was a pleasant surprise to see so many people from our church gather to show support, some even stayed overnight with late night Pho etc. Also, remember to thank our awesome H2O brothers/sisters who did a great job to host our mission trip fundraisers the last few weeks (still 1 coming up this week), they did this as a blessing/support to us and the church body has graciously responded!  Never forget that the church is a family and actively stands behind us in prayer and support!

This Friday (15th), we'll continue through part 6 of the Basic series that started almost 2 years ago with Prayer.  This is such an important aspect of our life that many of us seem to find difficult to cultivate... we'd also like to dedicate time to break up into smaller groups and pray for one another (missions, exams, joys, trials, life in general).  This is take two as the last time we scheduled to have this study it was a snowstorm.  Over the last couple of years we've slowly journeyed through this series which challenges today's church to reclaim church/fellowship to what God desires it to be according to the Bible. We've looked at Fear God, Follow Jesus, Holy Spirit, Fellowship and Teaching. Our focus this week will be on prayer... Is it possible that some of our prayers go unanswered because we are praying out of a sense of obligation or maybe for the wrong things? Are our prayers supposed to be a list of things we want, or are they really intended to be an ongoing dialogue with God about the things He wants? Bring your Bibles and a willingness to be challenged and change.

PLUS, I've attached (to your e-mail) a famous book on prayer 'Hidden Life of Prayer' that was endorsed by John Piper and provided for free (legally of course!)  so read a chapter each day or however much you desire :)

This Sunday (17th), we'll likely be outdoors again and return with the 'devotional thought' and a brief lesson in our series of honoring parents & family.

PRAY for one another, pray for our upcoming mission trips, this is a busy season for many of you so pray for exams and finishing strong, pray for perseverance in some of the spiritual goals you mentioned a couple of weeks ago (daily reading, praying, reading the whole Bible, learning more about spiritual warfare etc.)

Praise God for another huge blessing from our friends at Salem, I'll be catching up with them this week and they have agreed to once again provide Bibles for us to distribute for free at Ouje this summer!

Reply and let us know how we can be praying for you and setting up a time to meet up.
see you on Friday!

YF Relay for Life this Friday (8th)

Praise the Lord for the awesome privilege of feeding the multitudes last Saturday!  We had ordered 65 shirts in faith (as an overestimate) and we had at least 73 people show up (we will try to get our hands on some extra shirts for those that missed out) :)  I've heard some great testimonies from adults in different groups and they said you guys were great, not shy and genuinely loved doing it.   It was fantastic to see some of our coffeehouse guests help out for the day as well!

This Friday (8th) will be YF's annual participation in Relay for Life, so take a break and join us at Carleton University Raven's Field at 7pm!  Every year, at this time; church families join us for the Relay for Life.  Whether we have lost loved ones or had loved ones fight cancer by God's grace, we have all been impacted by cancer.  This is another great event to invite coffeehouse guests to join us for the evening at 7:00pm at Raven's Field in Carleton University (directions) and leave at whatever time is convenient for you (uncle Eric suggests after the candle ceremony at 10pm) some people often stay overnight.  It's no cost for the event, your presence will show your support. Please bring your running shoes, clothing in preparation of the weather (colder in the evening), frisbees, footballs, baseball gloves etc. It is a very recreational time, where you can gather together for the fight against cancer as well as having a lot of time for meaningful talks, fun and fellowship.  The attached waiver (in your e-mail) is for all summer activities.

This Sunday (10th) we will be hearing from David Kitz (mentioned on Sunday by Priscilla, not a coincidence :) doing Psalms Alive! "Within the Psalms we hear the deepest longings of the human heart. Here we find the full range of human experience - an experience that brings us face to face with God. Our joys and triumphs are reflected here. Our spirits soar to the heavens, but we also plumb the depths of tragic despair. Is it any wonder then, that throughout the ages men and women have found refuge in the Psalms." Following service, our Ouje fundraising efforts will continue with the gracious organization by our awesome H2O brothers/sisters!  Sunday school, we will be continuing our series on honoring parents & family.

Notes:
Please submit your coffeehouse receipts to me as soon as possible so I can claim them for you.
If you have a brief quote about the Feeding 5000 community action project, the RTR communication team would love to hear it!
Ouje committees please finish up your planning as exams are quickly approaching.

Help us set up a time to meet in the coming weeks to catch up and let us know (reply to your e-mail!  for real! :) how we can be praying for you!
See you all on Friday and Sunday!
